Lost Mode in the Kedvencem App: How It Works Step by Step
Lost Mode – How Does It Work?
Lost Mode is designed to help you request assistance as quickly and effectively as possible if your pet goes missing. The system records the last known location, notifies users nearby, and relays incoming sightings to you.
What Happens When You Activate Lost Mode?
- The system first checks if there is a tag associated with your pet – this can be a physical NFC tag or a virtual tag.
- If there is no tag assigned, Lost Mode cannot be activated.
- If there is a tag, you need to specify the last known location on the map, which is the point where you last saw your pet.
- After saving, the system marks your pet as lost, stores the location, and, if necessary, activates the contact option.
Who Receives Notifications?
When a pet is marked as lost, the system does not send messages to everyone, but only to those who are actually nearby and have permitted this type of notification.
Logged-in Users
They can receive notifications if they:
- have enabled the Lost Nearby notification,
- have provided or permitted their location data,
- are within the specified radius of the disappearance location,
- and the app can reach them via push notifications.
Guest Users
Those who have not logged in can also receive notifications if they:
- have permitted location access,
- their device is available for notifications,
- and the disappearance location is close enough to them.
What Notification Do Nearby Users Receive?
The purpose of the notification is to enable those living or currently present in the area to respond as quickly as possible.
- The notification title generally reads: Lost Nearby
- The message may include the pet's name and the approximate distance.
- For logged-in users, this may also appear among in-app notifications.
What Happens If Someone Reports Seeing Your Pet?
If someone sends a “I Saw It” report on the public page or in the system, the sighting will be recorded, and the owner will receive a notification about it.
- The report arrives in the system.
- If the pet is still in lost mode, the owner receives a push notification.
- The notification may include comments, location information, and a timestamp.
- This may also appear among in-app notifications.
What Happens If Someone Wants to Contact You?
If someone finds your pet or wants to get in touch with you, the system can send a separate notification about this.
- The owner receives a push notification about the intention to contact.
- The notification may also appear within the app.
- This functionality also depends on the owner's notification settings.
What Happens When You Turn Off Lost Mode?
When your pet is found, Lost Mode can be turned off, and the system will revert to normal status.
- The pet will no longer appear as lost.
- The contact sharing will be turned off.
- The last disappearance location will be deleted.
- In certain cases, data related to previous sightings may also be cleared.
What Settings Affect Everything?
Several settings are related to the operation of Lost Mode and notifications. These can be managed in the app's notification menu.
Examples include:
In Short, Simply
When you activate Lost Mode, the Kedvencem App records the location of the disappearance, marks your pet as lost, and notifies nearby users. If someone sees your pet, they can send a report that quickly reaches you. This way, the search can be more organised, faster, and much more effective.
